As she laughed, though, Mashu came in behind her.

Mashu slammed her shield into Assassin's back, and everyone present heard an audible crunch.

"Gah!" Assassin jerked forward and slumped against a tree like her ally had a moment earlier. "I didn't even... get a chance to..."

She didn't get a chance to finish her sentence, dissipating into spiritual particles in front of them.

Though the Servants were defeated, the swarm of drakes flying above them seemed to double in size. Dozens of winged creatures shrieked and dived through the treetops.

"I think may be we should try to retrea-" Aaron's sentence was interrupted by a heavy sigh, as once again, Darius chased after the Drakes as if they were butterflies.
Avalon snickered at the sight, "Yeah I agree, if you can get the big guy back over here."

Phillipus thought for a moment, then sat down and began chanting. [ELECTRIFY FIELD: RANK A]

Mordred ran after Darius, sprinting with Clarent sheathed at their side. Mari's jaw dropped.

"Is this... Okay, this is a thing now? Guys!! Come back!" She turned to Aaron, gesturing to Phillipus. "Talk to him!!"

Mashu and Artoria hung back to protect the Masters as Mordred chased Darius around the forest.

"I feel like our this has turned into a kind of comedy of errors..."

Phillipus threw up his electricity field, which protected them well against the drakes. They couldn't get through, but there were still so many that they were well pinned.

"Artillery, fire!"

From somewhere in the distance, they heard the cry, which was followed by a sudden cascade of booms. Then, crossbow bolts and cannonballs came ripping through the forest canopy and ripping apart many of the drakes.

"Fire all cannons! Target the dragons!"

Another two volleys of fire blasted through the business, sailing over the party's heads and taking apart the dragons. After yet another round, the drakes finally seemed outmatched, and began to scatter to the winds.

When the crew emerged from the woods, they found a French legion lined up some distance from the treeline, armed with crossbows and light cannons. Standing front and center was a French marshal.



"Are you all okay?" he asked as they emerged, noting the few wounds on the soldiers. "That was some onslaught you held up against."

"I'm better now," Aaron said with a wink. Avalon whacked him in the back of the head.

"Marshal!" Phillipus sighed with relief, stood, and gave a formal bow. "I am Phillip von Hoenheim of Swysse. You are the Baron de Rais, yes?"

He sheathed his sword and approached. "Yes. Gilles de Montmorency-Laval at your service. Swysse, you say?" He rubbed his chin in thought. "It is a dangerous time to come to France. What brings you all here?"

"We came to investigate the troubles and lend our services to House Valois. I had hoped to cross paths with you and offer aide, considering the, well... The unfortunate circumstances regarding Sainte Jeanne."
