The Hunt for the Vampire

Malphas sidestepped the blades and came in hard, catching Kirei by the throat and slamming him into the wall.

Stars flashed in Kirei's eyes. He was almost done for. Rage and indignation swelled in his heart. It was his job to kill vampires. If it hadn't been for that other Master's tricks, it wouldn't have gone like this.

He turned all four blades inward and drove them through Malphas' abdomen.

The Apostle seemed not to be bothered by the four blades going through him. In fact, he even seemed to grin wider.

"Stab away, you foolish foolish man.  You don't have the energy left in you to kill me.  Just stop struggling and let it happen."

Archer landed just beside them. Lancer was hot on her heels. "I'm trying to talk to you!" she was screeching in irritation.

[[Berserker and Caster are four rounds away]]

Atalanta ignored the screeching harpy behind her and pulled back hard on her bow, aiming directly for the apostle's face.

Malfas released Kirei and jumped backward.

The arrow seared across his face, spattering blood along the wall.

The vampire only cackled.  "Do you really think you can take on two of us?"

Lancer landed behind Archer. The pair lunged at Archer from both sides. (she can dodge both)

[[Caster and Berserker are three rounds away]]

She dodged both of them and grabbed Kirei, hoisting him over her shoulder and shooting off as fast as she could manage. If she could at least get to the church, she would have Rider as an ally.

Kirei winced as Archer hoisted him over her shoulder, but didn't complain. As they soared away, he noticed the total lack of injuries on Archer. Even in his damaged state, he couldn't help but feel a little pride.

Lancer moved to pursue Archer.

"Wait!" Malphas commanded. Lancer turned and glared, but he smiled reassuringly. "We'll deal with them later. Best to cut our losses for the moment. Hold off our two new arrivals for a moment, would you dear?"

Lancer puffed out her cheeks in protest, but nodded. Malphas slipped away into the shadows while his Servant leaped atop the nearest building.

A few moments later, Berserker and Caster arrived. Berserker alighted atop a building opposite the street, hammer firm in hand. Seeing that Lancer was not about to attack, she hesitated, trying to get a read on her.

Wasting no time, Caster began preparing High Speed Incantation. [RANK B]

Lancer giggled and pointed her spear at Berserker. "So you came back to play, did you? I so hope you're gonna be more entertaining this time!"

Berserker frowned and gripped her hammer tighter. "Mmnh."

"Don't talk much, do ya? Such a shame for someone almost as cute as me."

Lancer spun around, facing away from Berserker. "I'm sending this one with love! Adó Kínzás!"

She bent over and threw her spear between her legs. Shocked at the lance's speed, Berserker raised her hammer to block.

Berserker swiped the lance aside easily and leaped forward, swinging her hammer with all her might.

Caster raised a hand and concentrated, gathering energy to wrap around Berserker and quicken her limbs. Blocking was fine until your opponent was too fast, and he didn't want to think of what could happen then.

Lancer moved to dive out of the way of Berserker's swing.

Lancer successfully avoided the attack and let the spear reappear in her hand.

"Finally, someone who isn't going to run away. It's good to have someone give me the attention I deserve! Now hold still! Adó Kínzás!"

Berserker moved to get out of the way, but wasn't fast enough. The spear streaked in past the handle of her hammer and struck her in the abdomen.

"Nggk!" Berserker reeled back. A stream of blood sprayed from the wound as she gripped the spear with one hand. Lancer laughed as the blood fell over her, spattering her body.

As the blood rained on her, her body seemed to glow red. The wound dealt to her by Archer earlier shrunk and closed as she drew health from Berserker's blood.

"Ah, that's much better~" Lancer sighed, licking blood from her forearm.  "There's no better skin treatment than a blood bath. And that of a young maiden is the best you can get~" She licked her lips lasciviously at Berserker.

Berserker looked concerned.

The spear in Berserker's abdomen dispersed into mist as it reappeared in Lancer's hand. Despite her blood loss, the wound wasn't too serious.

Sucking in her breath to overcome the pain, she readied her hammer and leaped toward the enemy.

Lancer brought up her own weapon to strike her as well.

Lancer's spear caught under the head of Berserker's hammer, clashing together and showering the street under them with sparks. With neither of them gaining the upper hand, Lancer and Berserker pushed off each other and landed on opposite sides of the street.

Magical winds wrapped around Berserker's limbs, making them lighter. She becomes more agile, and more ready.

Caster threw out another spell, Berserker's wounds stitching closed. [HEALING: RANK C]

Lancer growled and wheeled on Caster. "Who asked you to interfere?!" She jumped toward him and lashed out with her spear.

"I am a man of medicine, we go where we are needed, unlike nuisances like you!" Caster jumped to dodge!

Caster wasn't quite fast enough to get out of the spearwoman's reach. Her spear sliced across the mage's shoulder.

"Ha!" Lancer cackled, her eyes glowing red. "That's payback for yesterday, you pig!"

Her speed heightened by Caster's enchantment, Berserker sped to his side, bringing her hammer around in sharp uppercut.

With a snap of his fingers, the wound on his shoulder closed as if it had never been there. [HEALING: C RANK]

The lithe man moved back away from the young ladies as far as he could before resting a hand on the hilt of the jeweled sword at his hip. "Time for a top-up, I think." [MANA TRANSFER]

Berserker's hammer caught Lancer in the stomach, blowing her up into the air.

She did a backflip and gripped her spear tighter. "That's cheating!" she growled, noticing Caster absorbing the mana from the jeweled blade. "You're really starting to piss me off!"

She targeted Berserker this time, streaking down with her spear.

Berserker brought her hammer over her head and swung down hard as Lancer came at her.

Lancer deftly sidestepped the hammer swing and sliced Berserker across one leg, ripping a long gash in her dress.
