The Burdens of Command

She carefully drives them to their destination, only breaking a couple minor traffic laws on accident. She follows him inside, changes, and snuggles into bed.

Kirei falls asleep quickly as soon as he gets into bed, though his sleep isn't completely restful. He dreams of the Great Grail, whatever darkness sleeps inside of it beckoning him. He wants to reach out and touch it, but he's held back, unable to get any closer to it.

Kirei was already awake by the time the eastern horizon began to brighten. He adjusted his priest's robes as he looked in the mirror, thinking about the coming day. The War hadn't even been on for a day and he was already risking his life.

He didn't know exactly what he'd do when he returned to the Grail. He just knew that he had to do something.

"Shall we?" he asked Atalanta.

"Of course," Atalanta was ready as well, and made her way up to the car. She slipped into the passengers side and tightened her seatbelt snugly.
