A Small Great Dionysia
After they all returned from the battle, and patched each other up, they spent a bit of time going over a vague plan of attack, or defense (honestly, they still weren't sure) before everyone headed to bed. Their minds were too full to really plan anything of value. The children of Hypnos had to visit them, so that their thoughts would be more clear in the morning. However in Atalanta's opinion, it was good that they did not yet know what move to make. She had other ideas sparked by the various moral and religious discussions she'd been having recently.
She woke far after the sun, which was unusual for her. Her mind was mostly clear now. She went into the main area of the theatre to find Kirei and Rider mulling over more strategies. "Exscuse me, Master," she said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I had forgotten that I'd left some items at the church. There may also be money we could make use of left where the donation box was. If you don't think it's too dangerous, perhaps you and Rider could go and salvage what you can from the place? I can stay here and guard the theatre today."

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
Kirei furrowed his brow as he examined a map of Miyama, focusing on the Tohsaka mansion. If those two were mages of any talent, they would stay put and fortify their defenses. With the leyline and their Caster-class Servant, they had an overwhelming home-field advantage. And that advantage would only grow as time went on.
He straightened and rubbed his eyebrows. "If you know what was left behind, would it not be faster for you to retrieve them?"
((Cause Kirei has to be difficult))

The servant shrugged. "Well if it was only for what I left that might be so, but you know the general lay of the church better than I. If anything else is left, even in the rubble, you will have a better chance of finding it. "

Kirei thought for a moment. "I suppose you're right. I will try to return quickly. Will you assist me, Rider?"
Re: A Small Great Dionysia
"Of course! And besides, it'd be a good opportunity for closure and contemplation. Let's go!" He pumped a fist into the air.

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
Kirei wasn't sure what that meant, but didn't care much. He wordlessly left the theater with Rider at his side.
After a short drive, they arrived at the Church on the hill. Kirei stepped out of the car and looked over the rubble. The fire and smoke had died, and the now the scene was still, almost serene.
In the growing morning light, he felt vulnerable. But, he need not worry. The only remaining enemies were likely sitting tight and shoring up defenses. For once, he didn't need to worry about being attacked.
He walked into what remained of the Church and started sifting through debris.

Rider followed Kirei in. "Would you like to take a moment for prayer?"

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
As soon as the two left the theatre, she got to work. Of course, she had already retrieved her items, but looking for things that weren't there, along with anything else of use, should keep them busy long enough for her to set up a small Great Dionysia. First, she cleared out the main area a bit. She and Rider had already done a pretty good job getting the dust out of the place, so there wasn't too much to do. She then unpacked crepe paper, flowers, and various phalluses she had found. Fortunately, japan also had a great phallus centric festival. Aside from those that she was able to buy, a store that sold 'adult' items carried some even more interesting, even artistic, representations of the phallus rendered in glass. She placed them on tables by the windows. They truly caught the light beautifully. She set the largest phallus, almost half as tall as she was, on a table in the center of the room. She surrounded it with rolls, fruit, butter, cheese, and wine. She was even able to find some lovely cloth in the old prop room to drape over the tables and around the walls. Unfortunately, they would have to forgo the animal sacrifice, but she was able to find some goat meat. She set it to marinate as she threw together a toga as quickly as possible. Luckily, they were honestly relatively easy to make. She made two more, that would hopefully fit the men, and began to roast the meat over a fire, taking care to make sure any fire alarms were disarmed.
She dug through dusty filing cabinets to find some plays. It wouldn't be a Greater Dionysia without drama after all. They were not professionals, but they could take turn reading the lines. After enough wine, it wouldn't matter how good they were in any case. Since it was such a small celebration, she picked one tragedy and one comedy. She set up a seating area on the stage, filled with many soft pillows and blankets to recline on, and finally, plugged in a CD player she had found. After a browse through a music store she had landed on some music that didn't sound completely horrible in something called the 'Folk' section. The disc art labeled it as celtic, but she enjoyed the simple drums and strings and decided that it would do. She waited by the door for the men to return, togas and goblets at the ready.

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
Kirei stopped and looked back at Rider dispassionately, then back to the burned church, his eyes settling on a burned cross near the remains of the altar.
"Normally, I would. However, Archer has given me much to think about lately." He picked up a burned piece of wood and turned it over in his hand. "I once believed that God would bring me salvation. That He would give me purpose. After abiding by the rules of God and living modestly, I had no results. So, even before the Holy Grail War, I had ceased to pursue salvation." He dropped the wood back into the rubble. "I suppose there's no point in praying anymore."

"If you say so, but remember, those who weather His trials are met with boons in the next life!" He hummed as he looked through the rubble, turning over large pieces with his foot.
"Do you know where we should be looking? I thought she'd manage to retrieve what she needed already, but I guess I was wrong..."

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
Kirei made a disgruntled noise. He'd heard that line a thousand times through his work in the Church; it didn't mean anymore coming from this strange little man. Waiting until the next life for a reward was meaningless.
"Anything above ground was likely destroyed," he answered making his way to the collections box under the altar and prying it open. A few coins remained within, but nothing worth taking. "There still might be something in the basement."
The stairs down to the basement were all but totally clogged with rubble, but with him and Rider, it would take little time to clear them.

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
Once all the rubble was cleared, Rider cleared the last few stairs by jumping from both feet and landing delicately on just one, hands in the air. "I'm starting to think she just wanted us out of the base for some reason..."

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
"..." Kirei stared back in the direction of the Shinto district. That had occurred to him, but without a clear reason, he had gone along with her plan. Now, though, he worried.
What was she planning? Even were she of the mind, betraying him at this point would be a foolish move. And even for a Servant, she seemed too relaxed to be plotting anything hostile.
Either way, he was growing uncomfortable.
"Let's search the basement briefly, then return to the theater."

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
When they returned to the theater, Kirei hesitated for a moment before heading inside. Though he didn't feel any particular trepidation, he was still unsure what to expect. He could still feel Archer's presence inside. It appeared as though she'd been expending mana.
He wouldn't wait anymore. He stepped into the building.

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
Rider skipped ahead of Kirei, his voice ringing out. "Miss Atalaaaantaaaa~! We didn't find anything, don't be mad!"

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
"That's absolutely fine," she replied with a smile handing him a toga and goblet. "You don't have to change your outfit if you don't want to, but please feel free to partake in the refreshements," she gestured widely not only to the table in the center, but the whole theater. When he took the items, she moved to hand Kirei his items as he trailed in behind Rider, looking slightly nervous. She smirked.

Rider gasped with delight and immediately changed. "This is going to be so much fun!!" He stuck one of the flowers behind his ear.

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
Kirei took in the entire spectacle with growing confusion and disdain. Fruit, candles, music... were those phalluses?
He wondered for a moment if Archer had lost her mind and thought she was living back in her original time.
"What... is going on here?"

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
" I thought we could use a break, specifically that you could use one. The Great Dionysia would usually be held around this time, and you could do with a little more indulgence before you die." she gave him a wry smile, coaxing the goblet and toga into Kirei's arms and watching Rider lay into the wine and fruit.

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
"Great Dionysia...?" he echoed, taking the goblet and toga, but not yet doing anything with them. "You want me to participate in this... pagan ritual? What nonsense is this? You do realize we are in the middle of a war, don't you?"
Re: A Small Great Dionysia
"That's exactly why we're doing this!" Rider put a grape and a piece of cheese in his mouth together, humming happily while chewing. "Christ himself rested with his disciples on the mount at Galilee, right? One last moment of rest and recuperation!"

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
She stood tall, and looked him straight into the eyes. "This is not nonsense. Your religion is not the only one, no matter how much you believe or don't believe it to be true." She reached forward and plucked the collar from his preist's robe. "We are in the middle of a war, but at the moment we are deadlocked. Your head are heart are clogged with thoughts of faith. Both of those things are required to win any war. You don't know what you want, so try this and decide so you can free yourself to do what really matters." her words were firm but calm, and her eyes firmly held his. They burned with a passion and energy that she hadn't released by yelling or hitting him. She was clearly not a woman who enjoyed being accused of 'nonsense'.

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
He glared back at her, but listened intently to her words. He realized he had offended her, though he certainly didn't feel any guilt.
"Winning a war requires remaining focused, not by distracting oneself with pursuits of pleasure! My faith...!" He paused as he tried to find the right words, but struggled. "I realize my religion is not the only one. But I don't see the point in engaging in these activities. I have already tried the highest quality foods and wines in the world, experienced the finest entertainment." He looked down at the goblet in his hand. "I never felt anything."

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
"Finest does not necessarily mean it is automatically enjoyable. What did you have invested in these activities? What was your state? If you are going to have a chance of feeling anything, the possibility of death or the granting of a lifelong wish forthcoming should hopefully be enough of a springboard to invoke some emotions in you. And if not, what harm is there in trying. You and I may cease to exist in the next few days, so just get some average food and drink, sit on an abandoned stage with Rider and myself, and read through a couple plays while we get drunk." she moved away towards the table to pour herself a glass and load up a plate with food. "And if you MUST approach it from the perspective of your religion, I feel that Astolpho has a fine point about Galilee. You even have the company of a fellow christian to endorse your behavior. Live a little."

Re: A Small Great Dionysia
"'Live a little,' you say," he sighed. "How absurd." The last comment didn't have the tone of an insult, but more of a resigned acceptation.
She wasn't wrong. With the Tohsaka girl and her ally having every advantage over them, the chances of him dying in the next 24 hours were higher than he preferred.
"I've spent my entire life searching for purpose in vain. But I suppose if I cannot find it in the Grail, it would do to... 'live a little.'"
He unbuttoned the top few buttons of his priestly vestments, with the corner of his mouth twitching slightly--possibly the closest thing to a smile Kirei had ever shown. "I suppose I will indulge you for a while."
He turned away to change into the toga.
