Battle at Mion Bridge

Unfortunately, Berserker did not come down to help the other two up, forcing them to use the elevator to the roof.

When they arrived, Yui stood at the lip of the rooftop, having already placed an A-Rank barrier around herself. She peered down to the bridge below, brightly lit by the city's lights. A dark figure stood just on the edge of the bridge.

"There they are."

Space shimmered as a bounded field gated up around them just outside of the barrier. "All right, do we have a plan?"

Lazarus peered down up on them as well, moving to stand next to Yui. "Hmm. What kind of suggestions do you have for spells? I definitely think someone should try to cast something to protect their prey, if they're still alive, and Caster will have to take care of the servant, as neither of us can, especially from a distance."

"I can send a familiar down to keep an eye on the battle, and look for the victim. I can't really be sure of any spells until we know what the Servant is. And I want to make sure their victim, wherever they are, doesn't get caught in the crossfire." She pursed her lips. "So, I guess I don't really have any suggestions. Sorry."

"Berserker, would you be able to bring the victim up here? I know you can hold your own," he grinned, "as well as get back to safety in a single bound."

"Great!" Lazarus beamed. "So it's settled. Yui can send down a familiar, Berserker can then retrieve the victim, however I think she should retreat towards a different area at first, so that our position isn't revealed. Caster, you should engage the servant with a spell. Yui, would you be able to send out another familiar to find the Master?"

Ten stones rose out of the pouch at his hip with a brief thought. "At your signal."

Yui nodded, focusing on her pendant and sending mental commands to two of her pigeons. They circled the area for a while, giving them a better look at the Servant standing before the bridge. They saw a tall girl with red hair and horns, wearing an outfit reminiscent of a gothic lolita outfit.



She smirked, turning her eyes right toward one of the familiars circling the area.

"I know you're out there!" she yelled. "Come on out so we can get on with it already! Or else, I can't guarantee what will happen to this lady!"

A black figure emerged from the shadows near the base of the bridge; a man with black hair and wearing a black trenchcoat. One arm was wrapped tightly around a woman's waist, the other around her throat. She was pale and shaking, and they could see blood running freely from her neck.

Lazarus began to chant, ever so slowly levitating as he did so. [Featherfall, rank C]

Lazarus floated up and stepped over the edge of the roof, falling gently but quickly down to the ground into an alley off to the side of the skyscraper. He still had his eye on the Master, and moved quietly in that direction, chanting another spell to keep himself silent.

Three of the charged stones zoomed towards the young woman's head, banking from different directions - neither of them the top of the skyscraper.

Yui took note of Lazarus heading off, and turned to Berserker.  Her Servant was certainly not one for sneak attacks.

"Circle around to the south and go save that woman!" she whispered to Berserker.  She nodded and bounded off over the rooftops.

Lancer saw the stones whizzing in from all directions, and a long black and red lance materialized in her hand.

Though her lance moved fast, it wasn't fast enough to intercept the oncoming stones. As they hit, each one exploded, engulfing Lancer's body in fire and smoke.

Lancer stumbled out of the smoke, coughing and hacking.

"What a dirty tactic! Do you have any idea who I am?!"

Meanwhile, Berserker came out of a nearby alleyway, closer to Lancer's Master. The Master noticed her and spun toward her, hugging the woman's body even closer to his. The was a metallic glint as a knife appeared from his sleeve and pressed close to her neck. His eyes were just visible over her shoulder--black with silver rings.

"Whoa, there!" the Master cackled. "You'd better not come any closer! We don't want an accident."

As the mage waited for Berserker to collect the victim, he began a spell. [Firesprint, rank A: Lazarus cloaks himself in flame that depending on the rank cast burns from orange to white. At the spell's conclusion he rushes towards his target at lightning speed, tackling them and causing several severe burns wherever their bodies contact.]

Two more stones came whizzing towards the haughty young girl, arcing wide before hitting home.

Lancer saw the stones coming and one again moved her staff to intercept.

She managed to deflect one, but the other one came in and hit her in the body again.

She stumbled back. "No fair, no fair!" she cried out. "Come out and fight me face to face!"

She looked over to see Berserker preparing to go after the girl, and growled.

"I don't think so!" She hoisted her lance over her shoulder. "Adó Kínzás!!"

She threw the spear with all her might at Berserker, who raised her hammer to intercept.

Berserker deflected the spear, which stuck harmlessly in the ground behind her. Using the attack as a distraction, she then charged in toward the Master as quickly as she could.

The Master's eyes bulged as she came in with the butt of her hammer, thrusting it over the woman's shoulder into the Master's face. He reeled backward, blood gushing down his face, as Berserker pulled the woman away.

Caster smirked with pride. Make that two scoops of chocolate and cream.

The last five stones soared through the air towards Lancer.

Lancer's eyes now bulged when she saw the last five stones coming in.

"Are you KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW?!"

The five stones converged on her, and Lancer disappeared in a deafening blast of fire and smoke, propelling her backward, where she tumbled into a smoking heap.

For good measure, Berserker gripped her hammer tightly in one hand and dashed forward before the Master could react.  With one might swing, the head of the hammer smashed into his torso.  There were several loud cracks as his spine and ribs shattered.

He wobbled for just a few seconds, staring dumbfounded at Berserker, before collapsing into a bloody heap.

Lazarus snuffed his spell, smoke rolling off of his body as a result. He coughed a bit, clapping as he emerged from the main cloud. "Excellent! Absolutely wonderful job, both of you!" He could not be prouder of his and Yui's servants at this moment. He knew they would do well if they worked together.

Caster waved from the balcony edge, delighted. "Bring her up here, Berserker! Let me see if I can do something for her!"

Lazarus used a feather lift spell to join the others on the roof. He would help her as well if he could.
