The Eighth Servant

Some twenty miles from town, there was a dark forest on the slope of a large hill, overlooking Fuyuki far below, the lights of the city twinkling in the distance. Here, it was quiet, with just the buzzing of insects and the soft footfalls of a tanuki running by. It was serene and peaceful.

Then, a surge of mana swept into a clearing, coalescing and filling the area with invisible, crackling energy. A magic circle appeared on the ground suddenly from nowhere, and it lit up brightly. Birds and beasts alike fled from the area as the circle crackled with energy. A white mist arose and swirled around the center of the circle, and a figure shimmered into existence.



The Servant blinked and looked around as the mist cleared. Through a gap in the trees, he saw the lights of Fuyuki below.

"How interesting. Only a few hours into the Grail War and I'm already called in to help. I'm surprised he managed to get them all together so easily. As expected of the man who would have been the winner of the last War."

He adjusted his haori and scratched his chin. As a Servant, he'd be noticed in Fuyuki too easily. He'd have to make his way to the nearest airport fast. There was much to do and time was short.
